Post-Fixation Hip & Knee Osteoarthritis Surgery
Treating arthritis that develops after a previous fracture fixation of the hip or knee.
Overview
Joints that were previously fixed after a fracture can develop arthritis over time, causing stiffness and pain. This surgery removes retained hardware where needed and reconstructs the worn joint, relieving pain and restoring range of motion.
Because every previous fixation is different, we plan each case individually — often combining hardware removal with joint resurfacing or replacement in a single, well-sequenced procedure.

What it treats
Secondary arthritis of the hip or knee following an earlier fracture fixation, where stiffness and pain have gradually returned around old hardware.
What's involved
Careful assessment of the existing hardware, its removal where indicated, and reconstruction or replacement of the joint — followed by individualized physiotherapy focused on mobility.

“The pain from my old injury is finally gone and I can move freely again. I only wish I had come sooner.”
